Safety tips for the electric fence

July 25,2024 tongher Industry 62

Electric fence is a safe way to control animals when installed and used properly. Electric fence systems are not only useful for controlling domestic animals but can also be an effective tool for wildlife management. Make sure that you fully understand the basic of electric fence and how it operates before you start to install in your property. If you are ever in doubt, have a professional person do the job for you. Whether you are a beginner or more experienced with electric fence, here are some of our favorite tips. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and guidelines when installion.

1.Don’t touch fences with your head or mouth

People with pacemakers or other heart problems also should consult their doctors before working with or near electric fences. No humans or animals have died from electric, grazing-system fences without becoming entangled in them, however, some precautions are necessary.

 2. Connect only one energizer to a fence.

It is unsafe to install more than one energizer per fence. Don’t do it. If the energizer you have choose is not adequate for the fence you installed, either separate the fence into two separate fences or buy a larger energizer. Connecting two energizers to the same fence creates a dangerous situation because it interrupts the natural pulse cycle.

3. keep fences away from combustible materials

Under unusual fault conditions, electric fences can produce sparks, so keep fences away from combustible materials. When droughts and other conditions create a high risk of wildfires, operate energizers on low power if they are equipped with that option, or turn energizers off.

4. Careful of Lightning Storms

Stay away from a live fence during a lightning storm. Just to be safe, stay away when you think lightning is approaching. If your general area is prone to lightning strikes, you might even want to unplug your Energizer before the storm hits.

5. Avoid High-Voltage Power Lines

Finally, avoid installing electrified fence anywhere near high-voltage lines. The reason is simple: electrified fencing can attract electricity from a high-voltage line, thereby creating a potentially deadly situation. Do not install a fence alongside high-voltage lines or running underneath them.
